Asimov for Joris Laarman Lab

RoboFold were approached by Joris Laarman to create a replica of our production process at a desktop scale. The fully functional demonstration folded a one-piece chair designed by their studio, in their first solo show for Friedman Benda Gallery in New York.

RoboFold translated the design from a paper model to a simulation that instructed an Arduino controlled array of 42 servos controlling four 6-axis robots with custom 3D printed vacuum grippers. Software development and hardware integration for the project was in association with AltN.
